The Most Common Emergency Plumbing Issues

Plumbing is an important part and parcel of a home be it a mansion or a one-bedroom apartment. Most people are faced with different plumbing emergencies from time to time and sometimes there’s need to call a plumber to fix the problem due to its importance. Many people fear that trying to deal with the emergencies themselves will lead to the emergency getting more serious and out of control.

There are several plumbing emergencies which includes;

  1. Clogged toilet.

Toilet is one of the most important item and also the most used in the house. During a waste buildup or in case of flushing a large item down the toilet, there is the clogging of the toilet and this can be a health hazard if not dealt with immediately. The main problem would be the spread of raw sewage into the house which can lead to diseases like cholera. Toilet can also be damaged by leaking toilet or pipes. This plumbing problem can be easily handled by the owner or rectified by a professional in extreme cases.

  1. Clogged drains

Clogged drains can be clogged sink in the kitchen to clogged bathroom drainage systems. This can be as a result of flushing large items down the drainage system or due to the degradation of the system (wear and tear). Such situations are risky as they can cause infections and foul smells in the house. Though it is easy to take care of such plumbing problems using a plunger, care should be taken not to burst the pipes or cause leakages which may turn lethal.

  • Leaky faucets

Damaged faucets may cause the water to drip from the taps and in some cases flooding in the house. In extreme cases the faucets may cause rusting on the parts that are exposed hence increasing the plumbing maintenance cost. Also the leaky faucets may cause a drastic increase in the water bill depending on the extent of the leaks. Another problem associated with this plumbing emergency is the growing of molds in the area affected. For the above reasons leaky faucets should be taken seriously and fixed within the shortest time possible. This can be done by calling an emergency plumber or fixing the faucets which is an easier process.

  1. Low water pressures

This is a problem that may not be mainly related to the house’s piping system but rather by the water supplier. On the other hand, it may be due to the deposition of minerals and accumulation of small metal deposits over time. These depositions may lead to low pressure hence the water may not travel to the tanks or little water reaches the tank hence an increased water shortage. This emergency plumbing problem is easily collected by installing water purifiers or frequently cleaning the aerators.

In brief, it is important to identify plumbing emergencies as soon as they occur in order to prevent accidents in the house and ensure no water contamination takes place.
